Road Trip 2017: One Tree Hill Sites in Wilmington, NC

Successful relationships involve compromise. One such compromise we’ve made on this trip revolves around Melissa’s love for One Tree Hill. The show takes place in Wilmington, which fact is obvious when visiting many of the gift shops in the city. So, being in the area, we had to visit some of the iconic spots from the show; probably, failing to do so would be like visiting Isla Nublar and not getting around to Jurassic Park. We located Brooke, Lucas, and Peyton’s houses, the Riverwalk, and Karen’s Café (a.k.a. Port City Java in downtown, where we drank coffee and surfed the web). And Clothes Over Bros T-shirts made appearances all over town.

While photographing Peyton’s house, we came across a man walking his dog. As he watched me powerwalk down the street to the house–I was determined not to be seen taking pictures of a OTH site, and to avoid disgruntled homeowners–he asked Melissa if I was a One Tree Hill fan. Thankfully, she took all the blame for that, and he went on to inform her that he used to live in the house next to “Peyton’s.” While he lived there, 20-50 people per day would stop to take photos of the house, and 100 or more each day on weekends. He’s seen a bus full of tourists from Taiwan, and multiple groups from France and Sweden. At least we’re not that bad.

Hopefully, the Moe Hortons and Kayla Ackelsons of this world will appreciate these pictures too.

  1. That’s also where they filmed Dawson’s Creek.
You were probably to young for that show.
